Koteshwar Temple: Ravana left original Linga gifted by Lord Shiva here

Mumbai: The Koteshwar Temple in Kutch sees the union of the dry desert and the vast ocean. The temple is located at a point where the blue horizon meets the sands. This is a true visual delight because it combines two extremes of nature together.

There’s a beautiful legend associated with this temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The temple is believed to have the original Linga gifted to Ravana by Lord Shiva himself after being mighty impressed by his undying devotion.

After being honoured with a Linga, Ravana accidentally dropped it over Koteshwar. In order to punish the demon king, the Linga produced over thousand identical copies of itself to dupe Ravana.

The king of Lanka, who stood confused on seeing so many identical Lingas, randomly picked one and headed to his kingdom leaving the original one behind.
