The newly elected members Geeta Kumari - president, Simone Zoya Khan - vice president, Duggirala Srikrishna - general secretary, and Shubhanshu Singh - joint secretary swore in at the office.

New Delhi: Newly elected members of JNUSU (Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union ) took oath of office on Monday evening.

The swearing-in ceremony of president, Geeta Kumari, vice president, Simone Zoya Khan, general secretary, Duggirala Srikrishna and joint secretary, Shubhanshu Singh took place at the students union office at JNU.

Geeta Kumari (24) is a second year M Phil student of history from the School of Social Sciences hails from Panipat, Haryana.

Simone Zoya Khan (26) born in Banda, Uttar Pradesh and brought up in Numaligarh in Assam, is a second year PhD student from Centre for Indo Pacific Studies in JNU's School of International Studies.

Duggirala Srikrishna is a first year PhD student, who campaigned on the slogan of 'Save JNU, save democracy', hails from Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh.

Shubhanshu Singh (25), doing second year PhD in 'Politics of Naming and Renaming' from School of Social Sciences in JNU, is a native of Agra.

Where Geeta Kumari and Simone Zoya Khan are activists of AISA (All India Students Association), Duggirala Srikrishna is an SFI (Students' Federation of India) leader and Shubhanshu Singh ia an active member of Democratic Students Federation.

Yesterday, the United Left Alliance had carried a procession from the School of International Studies to the famous Ganga Dhaba to mark their victory.
