New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday registered four First Information Reports (FIR) in connection with 2014 case of 30 kg theft from Delhi Customs Department at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

As per the report, the FIR has been registered against four unknown persons in the theft case.

The allegedly smuggled gold was confiscated by the Customs from various passengers during the last three decades.

The FIRs said that a Stock Taking Committee was constituted to analyse valuable items held at Customs godown at the airport which found that in large number of cases seized gold was missing or was replaced by non-valuable metal

The matter was probed by the Delhi Police but now the Home Ministry decided to refer it to the CBI.

The agency has so far registered four FIRs against unknown persons. The total quantity of missing gold in these FIRs is over 29.32 kilos (valued at about INR 8 crore at present rates).
