Mickey Arthur lauds Yasir Shah's `superb` 14-wicket haul

Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur was full of praise for leg-spinner Yasir Shah after the latter finished with an outstanding match haul of 14 wickets in the victorious second Test of the three-match series against New Zealand, which concluded on Tuesday . 

Yasir, who bagged the figures of eight for 41 in the first innings at the Dubai International Stadium, took six more wickets in the second innings to take his overall match tally to 14-184. 

The 32-year-old's spell helped Pakistan to clinch a huge victory by an innings and 16 runs over New Zealand in the second Test to level the series at 1-1. New Zealand-- who were enforced follow-on after being dismissed for 90 runs in the first innings-- were bundled out for 312 soon after tea on the fourth day to lose the match. 

Describing Yasir as `superb`, Arthur said that the former's performance in Dubai was the best leg-spinning bowling he has ever seen. 

"We knew he had a big performance inside of him.That first innings, I think there was a spell of about half an hour of the best leg-spin bowling you will ever see. Fourteen wickets in a Test match is superb," cricket.com.au quoted Arthur as saying. 

Yasir's match figures were the second best by any Pakistan bowler in the longest format of the game after former skipper and current Prime Minister Imran Khan's Imran Khan's 14-116 against Sri Lanka in Lahore in 1982.

Further heaping praise on the Pakistan leg-spinner, Arthur said that Yasir is very well aware as to what importance he holds in the country's Test squad. 

"Yasir is very comfortable mentally, and he knows what an important cog he is in our Test line up. He got his rhythm going and we felt he was really good," he added. 

Yasir, who has 195 wickets from 32 Tests, will now aim to break Australian leg-spinner Clarrie Grimmett's 93-year-old record of being the fastest bowler to bag 200 wickets in 36 Tests when he represents Pakistan in the third and final match against New Zealand at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium from December 3.
