Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee wreaked havoc as New Zealand gained an upper hand against India on Day 4 of the ongoing first Test at Green Park, Kanpur on Sunday.

At lunch break, India's score read 84/5 with the hosts leading by 133 runs. Shreyas Iyer (18*) and Ravichandran Ashwin (20*) are currently unbeaten at the crease.

Resuming Day 4 at 14/1 with a lead of 63, overnight batters Cheteshwar Pujara (22) and Mayank Agarwal added 18 more runs to the total before the former was scalped by Kyle Jamieson.

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane (4) failed to leave a mark after he was sent back to the pavilion by Ajaz Patel and the hosts were reduced to 41/3 in the 15th over.

Mayank (17) and Ravindra Jadeja (0) were then quickly sent back by Tim Southee and India was staring down the barrel at 51/5 in the 20th over. In the end, Iyer and Ashwin ensured that the hosts did not lose any more wickets before the lunch break.

Shreyas Iyer continued to make his debut Test match memorable with an important knock of 65 in the second innings as India made 167/7 at tea on day four of the first Test against New Zealand at the Green Park Stadium on Sunday.

Just when India looked to finish the second session on a strong note, Iyer was removed by Tim Southee to leave the match interestingly poised with the hosts having a lead of 216.

Shreyas Iyer hits fifty

Shreyas Iyer continues his good form as he completes his half-century to lead India's fightback after early setbacks. Interestingly, he is now the 10th player overall and first Indian to score century in the 1st innings and follow it up with a 50+ score in 2nd innings on debut.

India 84/5 at lunch

India were reeling at 84 for five in their second innings at lunch on the fourth day of the opening Test against New Zealand. Resuming at the overnight score of 14 for one, India lost four wickets for the addition of 70 runs in the morning session.

First innings centurion Shreyas Iyer was batting on 18 while Ravichandran Ashwin was not out on 20 at the break.

For New Zealand, Tim Southee (2/27) and Kyle Jamieson (2/21) picked up two wickets each.

Mayank Agarwal, Ravindra Jadeja depart in quick succession

India are in serious trouble as they have lost four quick wickets early on Day 4. Latest to walk back to the pavilion are Agarwal and Jadeja, who fell prey to Southee in one over. The hosts are now five down with a lead of just over 100 runs.
