New Delhi: In an effort to plug loopholes in tax collection system, Delhi Government has directed owners of hotels, banquet halls and farm houses to furnish prior details to it before holding functions like wedding ceremonies and other events at their premises.
A circular has been issued by Trade and Taxes Department making it mandatory for hotels, banquet halls and farm houses to provide details of the events, for which cost of booking exceeds Rs one lakh per event.
"Owners of banquet halls, hotels, farm houses, marriage party halls and open ground, where food and/or liquor items are to be supplied or provided and cost of booking exceeds Rs one lakh per function, have to furnish details in advance in respect of programmes being held at their premises," a top official of Trade and Taxes department said.
The department has also asked the hotels, banquet halls and farm houses to strictly comply with its earlier directive of getting themselves registered with tax authorities.
The official said the circular has been issued keeping in view the ongoing festive season. The city witnesses large number of weddings and other events during the festive season.
"We are streamlining the tax collection system as part of which a number of measures are being taken," said the official.
