Morrissey accuses music bosses of ageism

Singer Morrissey has accused record company bosses of shunning older artists in favour of young people.

London: Singer Morrissey has accused record company bosses of shunning older artists in favour of young people.
The 53-year-old former The Smiths star has been without a recording contract since the release of his 2009 album Years of Refusal, and he has been frustrated by the indifference shown to his latest songs by industry executives, reported Daily Star.
The rocker said he has approached many major record labels in a bid to secure a new deal, but he blames music chiefs for being obsessed with promoting younger acts and ignoring older stars. "(I have) a great deal (of new material). We could record three studio albums immediately, very easily. But none of the majors are interested. I have approached a few and they have said no. I think it`s a question of age really. I think that they are only interested in very young people who will fly by and ask for nothing in return," Morrissey said. PTI
