‘Satyamev Jayate’ collects over Rs 4 lakh for de-addiction centre

Zeenews Bureau Mumbai: ‘Satyamev Jayate’ has had far reaching effects on the Indian society. The impact of the progamme is very apparent. The latest to benefit from Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s debut TV show is Muktangan Rehabilitation Centre that helps people in getting de-addicted from substance/alcohol abuse. Aamir met Mukta Puntambekar, the founder of Muktangan, and her husband on July 6, to hand over a cheque of Rs 4.37 lakh, collected by ‘Satyamev Jayate’ and Reliance Foundation, the shows philanthropy partner. Mukta will be using the money to help under-privileged children who are addicts. Talking to a news channel, Mukta Puntambekar said, “These children are mostly addicted to easily available whitener and there is no one to take care of them.” She added, “We will give them free treatment. Since the show was telecast on July 1, we have received more than 5,000 enquiries related to de-addiction, both in the form of calls and e-mails. Programmes like ‘Satyamev Jayate’ are doing great job in highlighting the vices in society and making people aware of the ways to get rid of these.”
