MJ’s killer doctor wants laboratory test on propofol bottle

Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been convicted of killing Michael Jackson by giving him a lethal drug doze, has asked appellate judges to authorize forensic analysis of the bottle of the anesthetic propofol recovered from the bedroom where the pop legend died in 2009.

New York: Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been convicted of killing Michael Jackson by giving him a lethal drug doze, has asked appellate judges to authorize forensic analysis of the bottle of the anesthetic propofol recovered from the bedroom where the pop legend died in 2009.
Murray’s defense argued that the doctor only gave Jackson a small amount of the drug, and that the superstar injected himself with the fatal propofol dose using a syringe.
The 100-milliliter vial delivered the propofol dose that ultimately killed the King of Pop, prosecutors said at Murray’s trial. Prosecutors told jurors that Murray mixed the propofol with an anti-burn anesthetic called lidocaine and administered it to the sleep-hungry singer via an intravenous drip. Murray’s defense argued the doctor only gave Jackson a small amount of the drug, and that the superstar injected himself with the fatal propofol dose using a syringe. In the filing, defense lawyer Valerie Wass argued that the highly specific testing, which was not allowed by Murray’s trial judge because it wasn’t made in a timely manner, could determine the exact contents of the vial and whether it supports the prosecution’s theory. “If that bottle is pure propofol, then Conrad Murray deserves a new trial,” Murray’s legal spokesman Mark Fierro told the New York Daily News. “They basically have no theory that works except to have a specific amount of lidocaine in the bottle,” Fierro said. Murray is serving a four-year sentence after a jury convicted him of involuntary manslaughter. ANI
