New Delhi: Any news about lowering airfares must bring some relief to air flyers harassed by high fares.

Air fares are seen inching down, as carriers have begun to offer all-inclusive fares, not charging fuel surcharge separately.

Airlines had stated charging additional sum termed Fuel Surcharge around seven years ago, when fuel prices had sky rocketed.

As per The Times of India report, Air India on Monday decided to have an all-inclusive base fare from April 1 as Fuel Surcharge will be merged with that. The shift comes as other airlines (foreign and Indian) have also started removing this term from their fare structure.

Jet Airways, IndiGo and SpiceJet, Vistara are among the Indian carriers that have stopped showing fuel surcharge separately and give a combined base fare.

The report added that some foreign airlines, especially from Southeast Asia, have also started removing the term Fuel Surcharge. For instance, the civil aviation department (CAD) of Hong Kong on Monday scrapped fuel surcharge that was being levied on flights originating from the city.
