Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, whose article on magazine on being a Muslim post 9/11 terror attacks made headlines recently, is now wary of commenting on politics and religion.
The actor, who has been in the news more often than not for wrong reasons in the recent past, refrains from giving statements on issues that may trigger unwanted controversy. Expressing his take on letting people express themselves, SRK while talking to a leading daily said, “To be honest, I have stopped commenting on anything religious or political from now on. But generally if you ask me, I do stand for freedom of expression.” The actor made sure that he would speak the least on the burning issues and said, “I`m an actor. You speak to me about my films. You want to speak about serious issues, you get some serious people - not actor and actresses.” Of late, people in the country have been slammed for making ‘inflammatory’ statements or have been in the news for exercising their freedom of expression. Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam’ that released Thursday had to pass through a litmus test before reaching the silver screen. And an-all-girls-band from Kashmir `Pragaash` was meted harsh treatment and tagged un-Islamic. Even noted writer Salman Rushdie has faced similar issues.
