New Delhi: This might not have happened for the first time in Twitter history, but here we have two super stars from Bollywood making an exit from the microblogging site.
In the wake of the flak Shah Rukh Khan drew for expressing his religious sentiments in a magazine recently, he has quit tweeting altogether to keep abusive, overly critical users at bay. Not just SRK, even Aamir Khan has joined the league of celebrities who have gone offline. Aamir is reportedly disillusioned with Twitter much like his peer and has stopped logging in. While SRK was quite an active user of the site, Aamir was more active on Twitter during the promotions of his new films. Before saying goodbye to his followers on Twitter, SRK expressed his agony for the last time on the social networking platform. His last tweet on January 9, 2013 read thus: "Sad,i read so much judgements, jingoism, religious intolerance on the net & i use to think, this platform wl change narrowmindedness, but no!(sic)" But the media reports state that SRK will be handing over his Twitter page to his media manager. In 2012, Priyanka Chopra had to temporarily quit Twitter due to the brickbats and nasty comments she had been receiving from random users. Even actor Imran Khan discontinued using the microblogging site when people began criticising and making a joke of his acting talent. Well, this is certainly bad news for the well-wishers of the actors who loved staying connected to them via Twitter!
