While its domestic collections stand at Rs 58 crore, it became a superhit in China and went on to collect Rs 131 crore alone there. In fact, the Rani Mukerji starrer became the sixth Indian feat to achieve the feat, after 'Dangal', 'Secret Superstar', 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', Hindi Medium' and 'PK'. In addition, it is the only Indian film led by a female protagonist to cross 100 crore mark at Chinese Box Office.
The film is about the life of Naina Mathur, a school teacher who suffers from a rare Tourette Syndrome. Her condition causes her to make uncontrollable sounds likened to hiccups. Shunned by the world, Naina finally finds acceptance in a bunch of students who are also the victims of oppression from the society. Naina and her students then embark on a mission to show the world that they are no less than anyone else out there.
The Siddharth Malhotra directorial, which was screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival in June this year, will be releasing in Hong Kong on November 8.
